3 great events in life

There are three great events in our lives: birth, life and death. Of birth we have no conscience; with death, we suffer; and, concerning life, we forget to live it.
Jean de La Bruyère, 645-1596,French moralist, Les caractères où les moeurs de siècle.

the feeling

I remember my youth and the feeling that will never come back any more – the feeling that I could last for ever, outlast the sea, the earth, and all men; the deceitful feeling that lures us on to joys, to perils, to love, to vain effort – to death; the triumphant conviction of strength, the heat of life in the handful of dust, the glow in the heart that with every year grows dim, grows cold, grows small, and expires – and expires, too soon, too soon – before life itself.
Joseph Conrad, 1857-1924, English writer, Youth

Doing Things That You Like

Nobody else seriously cares if you're happy or not. You're the one who care about you. Do things that you like. Let your hair down. MAKE IT A BIG-DO. Go out. Go crazy. Learn something new. Lose some weight. Get a haircut. Dye your hair blue. Buy that expensive $500 shoes that you've always wanted. Join activism activities that make the cops chase you around. It'll make your adrenalin pumping (not to mention possible jailtime? :)). Flirt. Whatever. People keep telling you their ideals. But you know what? Most of their ideals are not your ideals.

Life Is Not Ours To End

The current rate of suicide is alarmingly increasing despite numerous efforts from different NGOs and health departments from all around the world. Why do these people chose to end their life this way? Perhaps the pressure is too high with not enough support from friends and family? We should try to show more concern to friends that are struggling with issues like divorce, loneliness, bankruptcy, death in a family, low confidence level, being bullied, etc. and show depression and signs of people that are about to commit suicide. Maybe by just lending our friends an ear and shoulder to cry on could at least help them to rethink their decision. Don;t ignore the signs. Alert relevant authorities to help when there's nothing more that we could do as a friend/family member.

Life is not ours to end. It belongs to our God. Don't insult Him by committing suicide. Life is beautiful. Try to find it's beauty.

Abraham Lincoln said...

I chose these quotes...
  1. All my life I have tried to pluck a thistle and plant a flower wherever the flower would grow in thought and mind.
  2. Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other.
  3. I will prepare and some day my chance will come.
  4. I'm a slow walker, but I never walk back.
  5. Be sure you put your feet in the right place, then stand firm.
  6. Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.
  7. Character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing.
  8. Don't worry when you are not recognized, but strive to be worthy of recognition.
  9. I do not think much of a man who is not wiser today than he was yesterday.
  10. I never had a policy; I have just tried to do my very best each and every day.
